Catlin- Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Catlin church of Christ for John Eugene Ferry, 68, of 310 Webster. He died Sunday at 8:05 p.m. at the Veterans Administration Hospital where he had been a patient since July 24. He had been ill a year. The Rev. Gene Stinson will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Pape Memorial Home in Danville. Ferry attended school in Marshall, graduated from Marshall High and attended business college in Chicago. He farmed for several years and was employed by General Motors for 16 years. He retired from Berkeley Davis June 28, 1978. Born June 28, 1910, in Marshall, he was a son of Patrick Ferry and Nellie Gallagher. He married Betty Marie Thorpe Dec. 30, 1954 in Terre Haute, Ind. She survives Other survivors include a son, John E. Ferry of Champaign; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Patricia) Morgan of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Michael (Suzanne) Lundy of Raytown, Mo; two brothers, Paul Ferry of Warsaw, Ind, and Dr. Donald Ferry of Decatur and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Ferry was member of the Catlin Church of Christ, a former member of the Elks Lodge in Paris and member of the UAW Local 59 of Danville. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He enjoyed reading and fishing.
